How Does Yard Automation Work with GLABs?

 Pre-Arrival Processes

Based on data from the driver mobile app, GLABs predicts when a shipment is likely to arrive late. The expected delay is automatically displayed across the relevant system views and operational lists.

 Arrival and Driver Check-In

Drivers arriving for loading or unloading can check in independently using a Self Check-in Kiosk or the GLABs driver mobile app, with the interface available in 15 languages.

If a truck arrives late, the check-in process can automatically reschedule the loading or unloading operation to the next available time slot and notify the driver.

Drivers arriving without pre-registration can register their loading or unloading operation at the Self Check-in Kiosk. Once registration is complete, the driver receives a time slot and the vehicle can continue through the standard yard process.

 Automated Site Entry

Using ANPR cameras, GLABs identifies arriving vehicles and automatically grants access to authorized vehicles according to predefined rules.

GLABs can be easily integrated with widely used Dahua and Hikvision ANPR systems.

GLABs can be integrated with weighbridge and OCR systems, allowing the gate entry process to include automated vehicle weighing and other automated data capture.

 Automated Truck Call

Based on predefined calling rules, GLABs automatically calls the next truck when loading or unloading can begin.

The truck calling workflow is fully configurable and can operate in coordination with the ANPR system and the site’s WMS.

 Loading and Document Processing

GLABs can be integrated with the WMS to keep the current loading or unloading status continuously updated. Automated yard workflows can be linked to individual statuses and triggered automatically when the process reaches a defined stage.

Through ERP integration, the current document processing status can be updated automatically. Yard automation workflows can be linked to these statuses and triggered automatically at predefined stages of the process.

 Driver Check-Out and Document Handover

If document processing takes longer and the driver needs to wait before check-out, GLABs can automatically notify the driver when the documents are ready.

The check-out notification can be sent through the driver mobile app, SMS, an outdoor truck calling display or an indoor driver waiting-area display.

At the end of loading or unloading, the driver completes the check-out process independently at a Self Check-out Kiosk. The driver can review and sign the relevant documents directly at the kiosk.

Once check-out is complete, the kiosk automatically prints the transport documents for the driver.

 Automated Site Exit

Using ANPR cameras, GLABs identifies the departing vehicle and, once the complete yard process has been successfully closed, automatically authorizes the vehicle to leave the site.

GLABs can be easily integrated with widely used Dahua and Hikvision ANPR systems.

GLABs can be integrated with weighbridge and OCR systems, allowing the exit process to include automated vehicle weighing or other automated data capture.

ANPR cameras automatically identify vehicle license plates. Based on the vehicle’s current status and predefined site access rules, GLABs can automatically control inbound and outbound traffic

Truck Driver Mobile App

Drivers can receive truck calls and status updates directly in the GLABs Truck Driver app. They can also use the app for check-in upon arrival and share expected delays with the site before they arrive.

Self Check-out Kiosk

At the end of loading or unloading, drivers can complete check-out independently at the Self Check-out Kiosk. Equipped with a printer, the kiosk can also automatically print the relevant transport documents for the driver.
